The late-run W650 kept the same 676 cc air-cooled parallel twin and retro W1 styling as the earlier bikes, with peashooter silencers, a kickstart heritage and a front disc brake. A reviewer found it light and easy to handle in town, but tiring on highway runs because of the high, upright riding position and wind pressure. It was positioned against the Triumph Bonneville twins of the period.
